What are Dedicated Hosting Servers?

When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three main varieties - web hosting servers, VPS (virtual hosting servers) and dedicated hosting. Shared hosting web servers accommodate lots of clients and hence the resources per web hosting account are limited, VPS hosting give you more configuration autonomy, but also influence other private virtual hosting servers on the hardware node if used heedlessly, and dedicated hosting servers offer you the freedom to carry out everything you decide without intervening with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated hosting servers?

Dedicated hosting servers are generally much more high-priced than shared web servers or VPSs. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is quite simple. If your corporation has a heavy resource-devouring site, or simply has very exact server setup requirements, the proper option is a dedicated hosting servers. For someone who is prepared to invest in safety and stability, the greater price is of no importance. You gain full server root privileges and can use 100% of the web hosting server's system resources without anyone else utilizing these resources and meddling with your sites.

Hardware architectures

Most website hosting distributors, incl. us at AMERICANRESELLERS, provide several different hardware configurations you can select from depending on your requirements. The hardware configurations include different types of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and hard disk drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can choose a hosting CP, which is a convenient user interface if you wish to use the dedicated hosting servers for web hosting purposes only and prefer not to resort to an SSH client for all the modifications you will be making. We offer 3 kinds of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The hosting CP of your choice

If you are a self-confident Linux user (our servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated hosting through a Secure Shell console exclusively. That, though, could be awkward, even more so if you choose to grant access to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having hosting Control Panel software pre-activated is a great idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel graphical user interface that we offer does not offer root privileges and is chiefly appropriate for somebody who runs plenty of web portals that consume plenty of system resources, but wishes to administer the web sites, databases and emails using an easy-to-use hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant complete server root access and have three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting packages instead of utilizing the dedicated hosting servers just for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting servers and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your dedicated hosting web server, like an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at AMERICANRESELLERS the system administrators monitor all dedicated hosting servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting servers as well. Backups are also an extra feature - the hosting services provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could pick a kind of RAID that would allow you to save the same data on two server disk drives as a protective measure in case of a hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full server root privileges deletes something by mistake.
